2025 Soccer Preview: Senior-stacked Peoria Christian looks to return to state’s biggest stage

PEORIA — The Peoria Christian Chargers soccer team is looking to make a run in the playoffs to get back to the state finals, where they finished fourth two seasons ago.
Graduating three seniors will present a challenge for this team to fill those positions, including all-state Quinton Hynek and four-year starting goalie, Josh Walton. But returning five seniors with state experience gives head coach Cory Hynek confidence that his players will step up and lead the team to where they want to go.
Five seniors who played in the 2023 state run return for the Chargers: 2024 all-sectional picks Colson Below and Jacob Walton, and defensive stars Trae Brickner and Myles Zimmerman, along with midfielder Josiah Kniep. The Chargers’ depth is bolstered by several more key faces, including goalkeeper Eli Sanderson.
