EAST PEORIA – Metamora this, Morton that. For the past two seasons, the Mid-Illini has largely been dominated by both of those two teams.
The Potters (18-5, 9-1 Mid-Illini) and Redbirds (21-5, 9-1) are still the talk of the conference and for good reason. But two squads that faced off on Jan. 31 have plenty of reasons why they could join the conversation soon.
The Raiders took an early lead, overcame multiple turnovers, and survived multiple comeback attempts from the Eagles thanks to a 28-for-32 performance at the free throw line in a 71-65 victory.
“Our whole conversation for the last 48 hours has been to take some pride defensively, and we established that first quarter,” East Peoria head coach Jarrett Brown said. “When we were throwing it all over the gym, we still guarded and sat down and were able to establish a little bit of an identity there.”
