IVC baseball off to hot start behind next-level talent: ‘We’ve got the chance’

CHILLICOTHE — Its name aside, IVC’s baseball field, the Ghost Yard, has become a scary place for opposing teams to play this season. 


The Grey Ghosts have been long awaiting their first Illini Prairie Conference title since joining the league before the 2017-18 school year. Behind several players with next-level talent, IVC has the potential to do that and much more after a 4-0 start in conference play. 


“[A conference title] would definitely mean a lot, I can’t even remember the last time we were 3-0 in conference,” senior Cole Yates said after a win over Bloomington Central Catholic on April 9. “Everybody just usually thinks of us as just as one of those small schools and that they’ll just come in here and beat us.”
