Manual relishing reappearance on state’s biggest stage

PEORIA — One of the state’s richest basketball traditions just got richer.
Manual boys basketball has made 23 state appearances in its storied history. That number will officially go up to 24 when the Rams take on Chicago Dyett in the IHSA Class 2A state semifinals on Thursday.
The Rams also have nine title game appearances — tied with Peoria and Simeon for the most all-time in IHSA history — and five state titles. If they play at the level they’ve been playing at recently, they could be seeing an increase in both of those numbers too.
