PEORIA – Peoria High fell behind early on and couldn’t catch up late as Joliet Catholic Academy rolled to 43-8 victory in the IHSA Class 5A quarterfinals at Peoria Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 2-seeded Lions’ (9-3) season came to an end for the second consecutive season to the hands of the Hilltoppers, which defeated Peoria High in the first round of the postseason last year. No. 6 seeded Joliet Catholic (9-3) will face No. 13 seed Morris in the semifinals next Saturday.

“These seniors we had were a blessing to have for the last four years,” said Peoria High coach Aaron Montgomery. “They set the tone in the hallways and in the weight room. They left a legacy of success and now it’s on our underclassmen to go to the next level with it.”
