Week 1 of the high school football season in Central Illinois was anything but expected.
Richwoods made a major statement by defeating Peoria High for the first time since 2017, Washington and Dee-Mack were dealt tough losses, multiple games were delayed or postponed by storms — including one that kicked off at 10 p.m. — and one team finished its game with four points.
There were also plenty of highlights, including East Peoria’s RJ Jackson setting a school record, Normal West and El Paso-Gridley taking down powers from other parts of the state, plus Canton and Eureka coming home with close wins.
Dunlap was a winner in football, as well as girls golf as the Eagles won the Bloomington Better Ball Invite.
Check out all the scores, recaps and top performers from the night below in The Roundup!
