Saturday provided lots of high-quality non-conference matchups in Central Illinois, especially on the baseball diamond.

Eureka, Illini Bluffs and East Peoria all took down similarly skilled area opponents in good games and Washington, IVC and Heyworth all swept doubleheaders. Washington and Illini Bluffs softball headlined the field at Washington’s Swing for a Cure tournament with the host Panthers bringing home the title and Tri-Valley picked up another dramatic victory.

Class 2A girls soccer powers PND, Morton and Normal U-High all showed good signs in marquee wins, Dunlap tennis won Metamora’s Pitchford Invite and several lacrosse teams hit the field.
