The Roundup, Oct. 24, 2025: Washington, Dunlap, Peoria High end regular season with key wins, Pekin and U-High become playoff eligible

The high school football regular season ended with a bang on Friday night with Peoria High cinching up the Big 12 title over Normal Community, Washington claiming another outright Mid-Illini title and Dunlap winning a thrilling overtime contest against Metamora.
Farmington, El Paso-Gridley and Bloomington Central Catholic delivered to finish the regular season at 9-0. Needing wins to get into the postseason, Pekin and Normal U-High converted to secure another game.
No shortage of big gridiron performances was had either, with Detaurion Pollard, Will Freeman, Jayden Schmick, Shaun Denniston, Braydon Laesch and Brendon Hardimon all putting huge games on a big night for running backs across the area.
Five area schools won regional title games in boys soccer and three Dunlap girls tennis players advanced to the final day of the Class 1A state finals.
