The Roundup, Oct. 7, 2024: Golf sectionals provide excitement, Peoria Christian soccer and BCC volleyball win big matchups

Golf took the spotlight on Monday as the area’s best teams and individuals competed in various sectionals across the state from Rockford to Champaign.
A total of four teams advanced to the state finals, which will be held Oct. 18-19, including Washington and Normal U-High’s boys teams who were both sectional champions. East Peoria’s Connor Watson and Washington’s Gavin Schreurs were sectional medalists, both with scorching-hot rounds under par.
Bloomington Central Catholic volleyball and Peoria Christian boys soccer headlined other preps action on Monday with big non-conference victories.
