Washington volleyball rides momentum to 3A regional title over Metamora
METAMORA — Volleyball is a game of momentum.
For better or worse, Washington and Metamora each had moments where they were snowballing in Thursday’s Class 3A Metamora Regional title game at Toepke Gym.
The host Redbirds, who were looking for their first regional title since 2023, had one big stretch where it appeared they would flip the match on its head.
But the Panthers rode multiple waves of momentum and used balanced contributions to prevail 25-18, 25-16 and win a regional plaque for the second consecutive season.
“What we're going to need to do is continue to build our confidence with this regional win,” Washington senior outside hitter Carly Dawson said. “Obviously, it's going to help us a lot and I think that once we focus on what we need to control, then that will just help us make it so far.”
