Young, battle-tested Pioneers aim to find their stride

NORMAL, IL. – Normal U-High’s boys basketball team is 12-9 on the season: a solid mark, but not one that turns any heads. 


However, U-High hasn’t been looking to pad its record with easy wins. Rather, the Pioneers have been preparing for the postseason by playing the best competition they can find. This has often entailed matching up with larger schools and some of the area’s top Class 2A and Class 3A teams. 


“We want to play the best teams we can find,” head coach Andrew McDowell said. “We want to play state-ranked teams as often as we can.”
