2025 Soccer Preview: Pekin trusting the process with several young returning starters

PEKIN — Pekin boys soccer was a young team in 2024. It will be young again this fall.


But head coach Gus Kormah and the Dragons have bought into trusting the process and the sophomore-heavy group plans to continue learning lessons that will benefit them in future years. 


The Dragons started several freshmen last season, including skilled midfielder Cessar Ibarra, who aim to keep growing as sophomores while veterans such as Ethan Fairchild and Aidan Stamper offer leadership in key roles. Despite the team’s youth, Pekin plans to use a tactical mindset to stay competitive against strong teams in the Mid-Illini Conference and the Class 3A playoffs.
