DUNLAP – There was a consensus in a room full of representatives of Dunlap’s volleyball team a few weeks ahead of their season.
The talent, young and old, is in place. But in order for the Eagles to scrap in the competitive Mid-Illini, the group will need to find more consistency.
The Eagles have had to work to replace their main characters from last season. The team graduated its leading attacker and digger in first-team Mid-Illini honoree Tessa Arnott, leading setter Caroline Holmes and leading blocker Sam Matheney. While Mid-Illini all-conference 2nd-teamer Rebbecca Lopez returns, the team has big shoes to fill.
A class of four seniors, including Lopez, Alexis Dupuis, Abby Scott and Piper Waltrip are set to step into bigger roles this season. However, the Eagles are also expecting help from an influx of young talent, including a handful of first time varsity players, to contribute.
Hear from Head Coach Leah Miller, Scott, Waltrip and Ruby Fabish and learn more about this season’s Eagles team in their season preview below.
