Brimfield golf makes history, Delavan secures return trip to state after strong sectional showings

PEORIA — The Inter-County Athletic Conference is made up entirely of small schools. But in boys golf, it is a giant.
That was proven true in Monday’s Class 1A Peoria Christian Sectional at Kellogg Golf Course, where Delavan secured a state berth after a one-year absence and Brimfield broke through to clinch its first state trip as a team in program history.
“It feels great, we came out here with the mentality of making it to state and that’s what we did,” Brimfield’s Will Snyder said.
“I’m so proud of them, they played a great round and we’re hoping to put another good round together here this weekend,” Brimfield head coach Trent Trotter said.
The Indians were the final team out of the Class 1A Illini Bluffs Regional to qualify for sectionals after shooting a 357. On Monday, they came through to improve on that score by 33 strokes — albeit in much more pleasant weather conditions — and place third with a 324.
