Tension ran high in multiple sports on Monday as state spots were on the line in boys and girls golf, flag football playoffs continued and several area soccer powers faced off.

Dunlap, Normal U-High, Brimfield and Delavan all qualified for state in boys golf and Normal U-High’s Jack Quinn won an individual sectional title. The Pioneers’ girls team also qualified as they, Tri-Valley and Metamora all won sectional titles and Bloomington Central Catholic and Dunlap both moved on as well. Tri-Valley’s Elle Filarski won an individual title.

A pair of area flag football teams advanced to regional championships and soccer games between Washington and Dunlap, Normal West and Morton and Peoria Notre Dame and Richwoods dotted an action-packed day on the pitch. BCC and Princeville were among several winners in volleyball.
