PEORIA — A venti strawberry açai refresher with lemonade from Starbucks is the go-to pregame drink for Morton’s Claire Ceresa. It might as well have been a magic potion for scoring goals.
The Potters’ junior forward scored not once, not twice, not three times, but all four of Morton’s goals in a 4-0 victory over Class 2A regional host Richwoods on Friday night.
The win made it four seasons in a row with a regional title for Morton, who perhaps has the highest expectations it has ever had after moving to 22-1-1 on the season.
“I think our overall goal is state, and we all agree on that,” Ceresa said. “We want to make it past sectionals this year, so I think that's our bigger goal.”
Ceresa made sure to do everything in her power to take a step forward in reaching that goal.
