The dance floor didn’t clear up much for Central Illinois football teams in the IHSA playoffs last week, with 14 of the 19 local squads winning and three of those teams falling in Central Illinois-on-Central Illinois matchups.

This week’s second round is where true contenders begin to emerge. The Mid-Illini and Heart of Central Illinois conferences each have three teams in the latest CSM Football Power Rankings and could boast one or more of said contenders. The Big 12 isn’t far behind with four teams still remaining in the playoffs, despite Normal Community’s loss to Mundelein Carmel.

With many of the top teams having established themselves and their big wins coming as little surprise, there were few adjustments in this week’s area rankings. However, Metamora and Bloomington moved up after both teams outscored their first round opponents by a combined 79 points.

Check out how the CSM Football Power Rankings heading into the second round of the IHSA playoffs shook out below. Area schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the teams in the large school rankings while area teams in all other conferences are in the small school rankings.
