Week 2 was a good week to be a team in purple and yellow in Central Illinois high school football.

Bloomington used a standout game from its defense to power itself to a narrow win over Normal U-High while Farmington’s firework show of an offense couldn’t be dampened in a big win over Elmwood/Brimfield.

Both of those teams subsequently experienced jumps in the latest Clutch Sports Media Football Power Rankings, along with Normal Community, Metamora and Bloomington Central Catholic. With area squads getting off to a collective strong start to the year, many very good teams still sit just outside of the top five in the large school and small school rankings.

Check out how the CSM Football Power Rankings heading into Week 3 of the regular season shook out below. Area schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the teams in the large school rankings while area teams in all other conferences are in the small school rankings.
