Aside from one or two games, there won’t be much drama in regards to who will make or miss the playoffs in Week 9 in Central Illinois.

Seventeen area teams have already secured playoff eligibility with five or more wins, including Olympia and Dee-Mack who picked up their fifth wins in Week 8. Only three others — Pekin, East Peoria and Normal U-High —  are at 4-4 while Elmwood/Brimfield and Eureka are in need of miracles as they both sit at 3-5.

Despite a crazy week across the state that saw numerous upsets, most of Central Illinois’ top teams avoided any theatrics in the penultimate week of the regular season. There were no changes to the top three in CSM’s large school or small school power rankings, but key wins from Metamora, Morton and Dee-Mack catapulted each of those teams into a top five-ranked spot.

Check out how the CSM Football Power Rankings heading into Week 9 of the regular season shook out below. Area schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the teams in the large school rankings while area teams in all other conferences are in the small school rankings.
