CSM Girls Basketball Power Rankings, Jan. 6, 2025: Iron, Turks rise, top teams stay put after holiday frenzy

Picking out the top girls basketball teams in Central Illinois is no easy task. 

As of Jan. 6, every team in the Mid-Illini Conference is at or above .500, the top six teams in the Big 12 Conference are either from Peoria or Bloomington/Normal and five area teams in the Heart of Illinois Conference boast double-digit win totals. 

Six area squads won holiday tournaments and hope to carry over their strong play into the new year, when the number of big games will increase, conference champions will be crowned and more storylines will unfold. 

Teams from the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the large school rankings while every other area school falls into the small school category. Teams receiving consideration are listed as well.
