Five Central Illinois teams advance one spot in Week 4 AP statewide rankings

It was a week of incremental growth for several of Central Illinois’ top high school football teams in the latest Associated Press statewide rankings.
Five of the 14 area teams that were either ranked or received votes moved up one spot, including Normal Community, Farmington and Dunlap.
The biggest jumps among local squads came from Washington in Class 5A, Bloomington Central Catholic in Class 3A and El Paso-Gridley in Class 2A. In Week 3, all of those teams beat opponents that were in the top 11 of their respective classes prior to the game.
Farmington, who has displayed a star-studded offense and stout defense as of late, boasts the highest ranking of any area team at No. 3 in Class 2A.
