PEORIA — Richwoods senior Jasmine Bisping spends her Friday nights kicking balls for the Knights varsity football team, and has been pretty successful at it.

But it was not always like that.

As an eighth grader playing on Richwoods’s JFL 14U football team, Bisping took on the role as kicker for the first time, and took her early lumps. That’s when Jim Ulrich, the head varsity coach of Richwoods, got to see her for the first time.

“She struggled, to be honest,” Ulrich said of Bisping’s kicking at first. “I walked over, said a couple of things, and she started working on it. She got a little bit better. Her father said something to me about that it's working, it’s getting better.”

“That’s how it started, and it’s been that way ever since, where she’s been a hard worker and has continued to improve and get better.”
