Week 4 of the football season provided more down-to-the-wire contests and also big wins for several top teams in Central Illinois.

Metamora, Bloomington and East Peoria all used clutch fourth-quarter touchdowns to win one-score games. Washington extended its Mid-Illini win streak to 21 and other teams that put up sizable wins included Dunlap, Normal U-High, Peoria Notre Dame, Princeville and more. El Paso-Gridley made a statement by routing Class 1A #4 Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.

Outside of the gridiron, the first day of the Pekin Dragon Classic featured many area teams in contention and PND’s Jack Coulter sizzling again. Manual flag football and Peoria Christian volleyball were also victorious.
