A strong collective showing from Central Illinois’ prep football teams in Week 1 resulted in more attention from the weekly statewide Associated Press rankings.

Twelve area teams found themselves either in the top 10 or receiving votes in their respective class. Nine of those squads moved up in the rankings or received votes for the first time this season.

Tri-Valley is still the highest-ranked area team, coming in at No. 2 in Class 2A while Peoria High and Farmington also notched top-five rankings.
