Now there’s something to base off of.
With Week 1 of the IHSA football season and preseason projections in the rearview mirror, fans got a chance to see just how their teams stacked up in their first real game of the year.
Overall, a majority of the results were positive with 19 of the 30 football teams in the Clutch Sports Media coverage area moving to 1-0 on the year. In games against non-area foes, those squads went a combined 14-6.
Among the area highlights were the Morton Potters hanging on to beat Mahomet-Seymour in a lip-biter at Carper Field, Dee-Mack beating Eureka for the first time since 2016 and many teams putting up a hefty amount of points.
Check out how the first CSM Football Power Rankings of the year shook out below. Area schools in the Mid-Illini and Big 12 make up the teams in the large school rankings while area teams in all other conferences are in the small school rankings.
