The first week of the IHSA football season provided no shortage of fireworks in Central Illinois.
Some of them started right away with Metamora and Normal West striking first right off the bat en route to key victories. Morton hung on in a nail-biting win at home over Mahomet-Seymour and Dee-Mack, Princeville and Farmington made statements at the small-school level.
