The Roundup, Aug. 28, 2025: Morton, BCC win high-powered volleyball games, five soccer squads post one-goal wins

If you’re a fan of close soccer matches, Thursday was the day for you as five Central Illinois squads won one-goal games, while key wins from Morton, Bloomington Central Catholic and Metamora headlined the volleyball action.
Among the soccer highlights, PND soccer won in comeback fashion, Canton is off to a 2-0 start for the first time in program history, Bloomington stayed unbeaten in a landslide win, and Morton head coach Zach Statham won his first game with the Potters.
BCC’s Kampbell Niepagen, Midland’s Anna McGlasson, and Olympia’s Grace Small all had big games on the volleyball court, Richwoods flag football made its season 2 debut and seven area golf teams won, led by Normal U-High at the Champaign Central Invite.
