Peoria Christian’s senior class leaving impact, even after upset loss in sectional semis

CHILLICOTHE — The word “playoffs” often conjures up thoughts of intensity and elation.
It’s easy to think about how sweet winning in the postseason is. But there’s also a dark side to it. Someone has to go home. And in the case of high school sports, it can mean athletes' last game playing alongside their best friends.
Peoria Christian soccer wasn’t supposed to go home on Tuesday night. The Chargers, in the midst of their third straight 20-win season, were the top seed on their side of the Class 2A IVC Sectional and possessed the experience and talent necessary to make a deep run.
The possibility of that run came to an end in a 4-2 sectional semifinal loss to Quincy Notre Dame, a heartbreaking end to the high school career of 12 seniors, including Trae Brickner, Jacob Walton, Colson Below, Josiah Kniep, Myles Zimmerman, Samuel Loeb and more.
