Potters soccer aiming for intensity, consistency after hot start: ‘Everyone’s excited’

MORTON — Have the Morton Potters reclaimed their spot at the table of the top boys soccer teams in Central Illinois?
It’s too early to tell for certain, but the early-season indication is that the Potters are a force to be reckoned with in head coach Zach Statham’s first season.
Already, the Potters feel more intensity, more desire to win and have gained more experience with a roster that’s still young. All of those things have led to more tallies in the win column.
“I'd definitely say that there's more hunger and there's definitely higher standards too [and] definitely higher intensity,” Morton junior Caleb Engel said. “Coach is really telling us that we really got to come out wanting the ball, or else we're gonna lose. I feel like that's kind of how our games are going.”
