Richwoods’ magic runs out as Knights fall to Marist in 4A super-sectionals

NORMAL — Richwoods is never a team to back down from challenges.


The Knights overcame any that they had had during the regular season and were on the doorstep of a state berth following two thrilling one-point sectional wins. They cleared another hurdle by making a playoff run while playing in Class 4A for the first time since the four-class system was introduced.


The Knights rose up to the challenge in a daunting match-up on Monday night against Chicago Marist, a top 10-ranked Class 4A team, and never gave up but fell in a 56-53 super-sectional loss at CEFCU Arena in Normal.
