Running it back: Washington soccer following state run with strong start to 2026
WASHINGTON – There is no such thing as regression for Washington’s boys soccer team.
Ever since Panthers head coach Chad Clift stepped into his role in the fall of 2021, his team has been one of the top teams in the Peoria area year in and year out.
From a 17-5-2 record in his inaugural season to a phenomenal 29-2-1 record last season, as well as a second place finish in the Class 2A state tournament, Clift always has his squad ready to compete at the highest level.
That trend has continued to begin this season, as the Panthers are off to another hot star with a 6-1-1 record through eight games. Although they will not be able to replicate their perfect 14-0-0 start from last year, senior midfielder Will Jaegle still has major confidence that this team has what it takes to get back to the state tournament.
