At the heart of Central Illinois’ baseball success is Class 1A and 2A schools, many of whom made postseason runs a year ago. With multiple players from the small school ranks committed to play at the next level, it’d be unwise to say that the best baseball is only confined to the Mid-Illini, Big 12 and Heart of Illinois conferences.

IVC and Bloomington Central Catholic have potential to compete for Illini Prairie Conference titles while Class 3A Normal U-High boasts a multitude of pitchers ready to take the Pioneers to the next level. Brimfield/Elmwood and Illini Bluffs help make the Inter-County Athletic Conference strong yet again. Included as well are brief previews for Farmington, Delavan, Peoria Christian, Peoria Heights, Princeville and Olympia.

Below, we take a look at the top returners, breakout candidates, and games to watch for the best of the rest in Central Illinois baseball.
