Friday provided plenty of thrilling softball action between tournaments at Peoria Notre Dame and Metamora.
At PND, Dunlap’s Sutton Centoni threw a no-hitter while PND won its nightcap on a walk-off and Bloomington Central Catholic picked up an impressive win. At Metamora, Illini Bluffs and Normal U-High split their matchups while East Peoria and Metamora both won.
Big 12 and Heart of Illinois Conference games led the way in baseball as Normal Community, Tri-Valley and Normal West were among teams to stay hot while Dee-Mack’s Jerry Hahn and Fieldcrest’s Layten Gerdes pitched superb games. Dunlap and Normal U-High’s girls, plus Farmington’s boys, had strong showings in track and field. The day also featured several soccer, lacrosse and tennis matches.
