Pitching is huge in high school baseball and softball The best teams often boast some of the best pitchers and will have multiple players who can get the job done. Monday featured many terrific outings by pitchers across the area. In total, there were four no-hitters — thrown by pitchers from Normal Community, Normal West, Peoria Notre Dame — and nine shutouts tossed.
Softball had good pitching in several games but the offense is what truly stuck out. East Peoria’s Annika Rosecrans had a big day as she was just a single short of hitting for the cycle. Metamora, Washington, East Peoria, Dee-Mack, Heyworth, Tri-Valley and Bloomington Central Catholic all scored in the double digits.
Limestone baseball and Dunlap softball chalked up important conference wins by taking down teams previously undefeated in Mid-Illini play.
Check out all of the scores, recaps and top performers from the day in Monday’s edition of The Roundup!
