The Roundup, Dec. 12, 2025: Overtime contests, Big 12 battles aplenty on big night of high school hoops, girls wrestling

Metamora and Morton boys basketball have had several great games against each other over the past few years, but a triple overtime affair between the two Mid-Illini powers on Friday night may have taken the cake. 

There were no shortage of highlights elsewhere though, as Dee-Mack’s Jerry Hahn and East Peoria’s Quinton Kitt both had monster games en route to victories, among many other great performances on the night. Manual and Normal Community swept boys/girls Big 12 doubleheaders and Peoria Christian, Peoria Heights and Illini Bluffs were winners in small school action. Fieldcrest also went to overtime in their semifinal at the Colmone Classic.

Over a dozen Central Illinois girls wrestling teams competed at one of the biggest events of the year in Pontiac with Metamora and Pekin each boasting bracket winners. Washington’s boys grapplers competed in Ohio at one of the region’s top events.
