A busy day of boys playoff basketball in Central Illinois saw much more close games than some would have expected in the regional semifinals.
Among the 17 teams that advanced, Illini Bluffs pulled off a huge upset over top-seeded Abingdon-Avon and Manual, Bloomington Central Catholic and East Peoria escaped with wins after being challenged in close games.
El Paso-Gridley and Eureka experienced opposite fates in overtime contests while Metamora, IVC and Heyworth all eked out close victories.
