Tuesday’s slate of spring sports helped accelerate the start to the season with a number of clutch performances on the diamond, including three games that went to extra innings.
East Peoria and Bloomington Central Catholic picked up good wins in baseball, as did Pekin in softball. Metamora and Brimfield/Elmwood were winners in both. Washington took on a small-school juggernaut in girls soccer while Normal Community and Limestone enjoyed shutout victories on the pitch. Many area Big 12 schools featured winners at the Big 12 Indoor Track Championships at Illinois Wesleyan.
