The Roundup, May 27, 2025: Brimfield/Elmwood, East Peoria win playoff marathons, four other area softball teams advance

The herd of area softball teams in the IHSA postseason was thinned on Tuesday with six teams advancing and five squads being eliminated.

Brimfield/Elmwood and East Peoria won the most exciting games of the night, both in nine innings. Along with B/E, Normal U-High advanced to the Class 2A sectional finals with a win over the top seed in its sectional. 

Bloomington, Washington and Dunlap were all winners in Class 3A regional action and Normal Community’s girls soccer season ended with a playoff loss to Minooka.
