The Roundup, Nov. 4, 2025: Eight volleyball teams advance to Sweet Sixteen, Normal Community soccer bows out

Central Illinois will be well-represented in volleyball sectional title games on Thursday after eight area teams prevailed in semifinals on Tuesday night. 

Four of those teams won in three-set thrillers: Normal Community, Morton, Peoria Notre Dame and Heyworth and others rolled easily, such as Bloomington Central Catholic and Washington. 

Heyworth’s Lyla Tate and Normal Community’s Alana Whitfield were two of many players to have big-time performances. 

Normal Community soccer’s bid for a state berth came to an end on its home turf.
