Conference play began for many teams in the area on Thursday night and Washington and Normal Community’s girls teams kicked off their conference slate with wins. Big efforts from Lathan Sommerville and Matthew Juergens helped Richwoods and Pekin pick up wins in their respective conference openers as well.
