There’s plenty to talk about in Central Illinois high school football following Week 3.

Three area contests went to overtime, including Dunlap eking out a huge road win against Pekin.

Washington, Morton, Farmington and El Paso-Gridley all pitched shutouts in dominating wins, many of which were against formidable foes. Tremont broke its 20-game losing streak and won its first game under head coach Joe Hageman and Bloomington Central Catholic defeated a state-ranked conference opponent in Illini Prairie action.

Several players put up outstanding performances, including Olympia’s Jimmy Lollar, Farmington’s Jack Gronewold, Washington’s Will Freeman, El Paso-Gridley’s Owen Adams and Ryan Kerr, Dunlap’s Jayden Schmick, Heyworth’s Braydon Laesch and more.

Among the day’s volleyball highlights was Limestone’s Khloe Stear recording her 1,000th career dig as the Rockets stayed undefeated.
