Tour pro, analyst and tournament host D.A. Points returns to Pekin for prestigious annual junior golf event

PEKIN — As a kid, D.A. Points was obsessed with golf.
That obsession started when Points began learning the game while living alongside the 17th hole at Pekin Country Club. It later helped carry him to a college career at LSU and Illinois, then through the grind of developmental tours and the PGA Tour’s qualifying school, then to a multiple-time champion on the PGA Tour.
Now, Points is back in his hometown helping instill that obsession in nearly 100 youth golfers taking part in the Renewal by Andersen Junior Open, an American Junior Golf Association event hosted by the former tour pro.
In the eight years of the tournament, Points has hardly ever missed the chance to come back to where his roots are.
