As a new month starts, several area spring sports teams and athletes are on record-setting paces and could etch their names among the greats in their schools’ respective histories.

Among the potential record-breakers are traditional underdog teams, including Limestone girls soccer and Dee-Mack softball. Even perennial powers such as Eureka baseball and Normal U-High girls soccer have new high-water marks in sight.

Several track and field athletes from Washington, Delavan and Bloomington Central Catholic are among the favorites to win their school’s first state title in decades, or ever. Tremont, Illini Bluffs and Farmington all have history within their grasp too.
