2025 Clutch Sports Media All-Area Boys Soccer Team: 61 Central Illinois players earn honors

This past soccer season was nothing short of historic for Central Illinois soccer. 


Washington advanced further than any Panthers team had before, winning 29 games and going all the way to a penalty kick shootout in the Class 2A state title game before falling to Chicago De La Salle. Head coach Chad Clift’s group also set numerous team records, including a remarkable 22 shutouts during the year. 


Single-season goal records were set by several players, including Normal West’s John Jasker and Limestone’s Joey Shields and others found themselves on the IHSA’s all-time leaderboard for assists in a single season. 


Clutch Sports Media’s boys soccer All-Area team, which features a total of 61 honorees, is composed of athletes from the 39 schools in the CSM coverage area surrounding Peoria and Bloomington/Normal.


Clutch Sports Media will also have a Coach of the Year and a Boys Soccer Player of the Year, which will both be announced shortly. All of the All-Area nominees below are listed by position, then in alphabetical order.


Clutch Sports Media All-Area First Team


Jackson Orris, junior, Dunlap - forward


Orris led Dunlap in goal scoring for the second straight year and was a main engine for an Eagles squad that went 19-4-3, won the Mid-Illini title and advanced to the Class 2A sectional finals. Orris scored 33 times and provided 11 assists en route to IHSSCA all-state and first team all-Mid Illini honors and has 69 goals in his career. 


Hudson Scrivner, senior, Washington - forward


Scrivner was a goal-scoring machine for Washington in its Class 2A runner-up campaign, averaging nearly 1.5 goals per contest. Thirteen of Scrivner’s 44 goals were game winners, including one in the Panthers’ Class 2A state semifinal against Rock Island. He was an IHSSCA all-sectional and first team all-Mid Illini pick. 


Jacob Walton, senior, Peoria Christian - forward


Walton was truly historic in his senior season, scoring 55 goals and notching 17 assists. He was part of a senior class at Peoria Christian that won on 83 games over the course of four years and helped the Chargers to their third 20-win season in a row. Walton was an IHSSCA all-sectional pick and scored or assisted in all but two of Peoria Christian’s 28 games. 


Believe Avida, senior, Normal Community - midfielder


Avida left a lasting mark on the Ironmen program and more than doubled his number of goals scored in his career in one season. The senior scored 21 goals and added 11 assists and finished his career with 41 goals and 27 assists in a Normal Community uniform. Avida was an IHSSCA all-state pick and earned first team all-Big 12 laurels for the second straight year while helping the Ironmen win a Class 3A sectional for the first time since 2017 and tie for the Big 12 title.


Colson Below, senior, Peoria Christian - midfielder


Below was a key part of a dangerous Peoria Christian attack for four years and wrapped up his varsity career with an IHSSCA all-state nod to go with 20 goals. His 34 assists on the season were tied for 19th-most in a season in IHSA history. He earned all-tournament honors at a pair of tournaments and was a four-year starter at Peoria Christian, which went 20-6-2 and won a Class 1A regional title. 


John Clift, senior, Washington - midfielder


Clift set a Washington program record for assists in a season with 29, which helped land him on the Mid-Illini’s all-conference first team and the IHSSCA’s all-sectional team. He paired it with 13 goals, making him the Panthers’ fourth-leading goal-scorer and second in total points for the Class 2A state runner-ups. He delivered when Washington needed him most by scoring or assisting in four of the team’s last five postseason games. 


Isaac Reetz, senior, Washington - midfielder


Reetz was the heart and soul of Washington’s historic team and was a first team all-Mid Illini player for the third consecutive year. He was an IHSSCA all-state selection and scored 18 goals to go with nine assists. 


Trae Brickner, senior, Peoria Christian - defender


Brickner, one of the most all-around athletic players in the state, scored five goals and added 10 assists on the back line for Peoria Christian’s 20-win squad. He consistently won balls whether he was on offense or defense and helped start many scoring chances. Brickner was also on the all-tournament team at the Peoria Christian Charger Classic. 


Ben Hampton, senior, Dunlap - defender 


Hampton was a standout central defender for Dunlap, helping the team limit opponents to 17 goals on the season. He consistently led the Eagles in building out of the back and is noted for his strong 1-on-1 defensive skills. Hampton scored three goals and had five assists and was an IHSSCA all-sectional and first team all-Mid Illini selection. 


Truman Lenover, junior, Washington - defender


Lenover was regarded as the best defender on a Washington team that shut out 22 opponents, good for second-most in a season in IHSA history. He was a first team all-Mid Illini pick and assisted on four Panthers goals. 


Oliver Wettstein, freshman, Washington - goalkeeper 


Wettstein had one of the strongest freshman debuts imaginable, posting 22 shutouts on the season to rank him second all-time in season shutouts in IHSA history. The six-foot-three keeper was responsible for Washington limiting opponents to 14 goals in 32 games for an 0.45 goals against average. Wettstein earned second team all-Mid Illini honors to go with an IHSSCA all-state honorable mention. 


Clutch Sports Media All-Area Second Team


John Jasker, junior, Normal West - forward


Jasker had a major breakthrough season and set a new Normal West season scoring record with over 33 goals on the season. His efforts helped Normal West improve from a 13-12 record in 2024 to a 18-5-2 mark in 2025 where the Wildcats reached the Class 2A sectional finals. Jasker was a unanimous first team all-Big 12 pick and bagged IHSSCA all-sectional honors as well. 


Declan Schuler, senior, Peoria Notre Dame - forward


Formerly a defender, Schuler moved up to forward during his senior season and bolstered the Irish's scoring significantly with 21 goals and 25 assists. He was a team captain and leader for a young Peoria Notre Dame squad that went 15-4-3 and tied with Normal Community for first place in the Big 12, where he was a unanimous all-conference first teamer. Schuler also earned IHSSCA all-state recognition. 


Nate Boyer, senior, Richwoods - midfielder


Boyer was one of the most consistently strong players in the area over the last few years, earning all-Big 12 and IHSSCA all-sectional honors for the fourth straight year. This past season was his third being selected as an all-conference first teamer as he scored 14 goals and supplied eight assists for a 12-10-2 Richwoods team that advanced to the Class 2A regional finals. 


Cal Byrkit, junior, Peoria Notre Dame - midfielder 


Byrkit brought plenty of tenacity to the PND midfield and was a factor in many games with 12 goals and five assists. He was an IHSSCA all-sectional player and earned unanimous first team all-Big 12 honors. 


Rohan Issac, senior, Dunlap - midfielder 


Issac excelled in his role as a central midfielder who controlled the game and fit perfectly in the system that the 19-4-3 Eagles ran. He assisted on 12 goals while scoring two of his own and was an IHSSCA all-sectional and Mid-Illini first-team pick 


Myles Zimmerman, senior, Peoria Christian - midfielder 


Zimmerman tied for 14th all-time on the IHSA single-season assists leaderboard, helping on 36 goals while scoring 19 of his own in a brilliant senior season. He became a midfielder after being an outside back, helping the Chargers replenish a hefty amount of production that graduated. Zimmerman was an IHSSCA all-sectional pick. 


Caleb Engle, junior, Morton - defender 


Engle was one of many Morton players that took a step up and helped the team experience an eight-win improvement from 2024. He had three assists to go with one goal and anchored a defense that allowed just over one goal per contest en route to a 15-5-4 record. Engle garnered IHSSCA all-sectional and first team all-Mid Illini laurels. 


Shane Fish, senior, Normal West - defender 


Fish was a multi-year starter on Normal West’s back line and helped the Wildcats their fifth regional title in program history and first since 2021. Normal West allowed just under one goal per game with Fish at the forefront and he was an IHSSCA all-sectional and unanimous first team all-Big 12 player. 


Daniel Flores, senior, Richwoods - defender 


Flores was a rock for Richwoods’ defense and earned IHSSCA all-sectional honors to go with his third straight second team all-Big 12 selection. The Knights’ senior scored three goals and four assists during the year. 


Isaiah Matthews, senior, Normal Community - defender 


Matthews led Normal Community’s defense with his intelligence, consistency and organization, earning first team all-Big 12 honors as a senior. He scored two goals and assisted on four others for the Ironmen, who brought home postseason hardware for the second consecutive year. 


Joe Heiar, senior, Dunlap - goalkeeper 


Heiar garnered high praise as the Eagles’ netminder, earning IHSSCA all-state honors while posting double-digit shutouts this past season. He was a first team all-Mid Illini pick and gave up 0.83 goals per game while making 87 saves. Heiar posted over 40 shutouts throughout the course of his high school career.
