FARMINGTON — Coming off a stellar 12-1 campaign that ended in a state semifinal berth, the Farmington Farmers will employ a next-man up mentality in 2025.

It’s a mantra that has helped keep the Farmers as one of the most successful teams in the Central Illinois area year in and year out.

Farmington has its key losses, as does every high school program in the state. Quarterback extraordinaire Lane Wheelwright has moved on to one of the most successful college football programs at any level in North Central. Running back Logan Utt, offensive lineman Caden Mowen and several other key starters won’t be putting on the purple helmet with forked decal this fall.

But what the Farmers do have is one of the best individual athletes in Central Illinois, a strong core of skilled players at key positions and one of the best home-field advantages in the area to guide them through what could be a special 2025 season.
