2025 Volleyball Preview: Normal U-High raring to finish season one block from campus

NORMAL — Both in a geographic and volleyball sense, Normal U-High was only about one block away from the opportunity to play for a state title in 2024.
The Pioneers fell to eventual Class 3A state champion Mahomet-Seymour in three sets in their sectional title game and only by two points in the final set. Determined to avenge narrowly falling short of playing for a state title at CEFCU Arena, a large and experienced Pioneers team gives them plenty of hope to do so.
Normal U-High returns five key players from last year, including all-conference selections Emma Jean Lehnen at libero and Laney Snow at outside hitter. Morgan Petelin, Alyssa Wolf and Madison Funk round out a nucleus that is seeking its fourth straight season of 30 or more wins.
