NORMAL — Normal Community football head coach Jason Drengwitz has observed brilliance with the Ironmen since he first joined the program as an assistant coach in 2004. The team went on a tear through 2005-07, winning the Class 6A championship in 2006 and making two state semifinal appearances.
Drengwitz has continued to build Normal Community as a respectable program throughout the state of Illinois, making a state semifinals appearance in 2023 and a quarterfinal appearance last season, a hard–fought game where they lost to eventual champions Mt. Carmel.
Drengwitz is hopeful to have the key that will eventually open the championship door for the Ironmen.
“We want to put ourselves in a position to defend our conference title,” Drengwitz said. “We want to make the playoffs, and we also want to hopefully be fortunate to make a deep run in the playoffs. Those are the kind of things that we think about right now, what our approach and standard is.”
