2025 Soccer Preview: PND elevates to 3A with different look, but same expectations

PEORIA — Having made more state appearances than any other boys soccer program in Illinois, it’s not often that Peoria Notre Dame soccer is looked at as an underdog.
Sure, there may be doubts regarding the upcoming season.
The Irish are faced with replacing veteran stars and prolific goal-scorers like Kayden Hudson, Thatcher Hogan and others. They’ll also be playing a step up in Class 3A — the state’s largest and most competitive class — due to the IHSA’s success factor following two state appearances in the last three seasons.
However, PND isn’t fazed by either of those factors and brings back many key defensive pieces, inspiration from a former team and a winning mentality. By putting those things together, the Irish are eager to quell those doubts and prove that they still belong among the best teams in the entire state.
