2025 Volleyball Preview: First-team trio has Normal Community set to remain a 4A power

NORMAL — Christine Konopasek has proven she is not just lucky to be here. Heading into her 16th season as the head coach of Normal Community volleyball, she’s led the Ironmen to 10 regional titles and multiple state appearances.
Her squad returns several star players who won one of those regional titles last season, including Division I commits Alana Whitfield (Michigan State) and Maggie Michaels (Northern Iowa). The Iron also bring back senior Sam Lakamp, a first-team all-Big 12 honoree along with Whitfield and Michaels to form a deadly trio.
While there remains competition to see who fills out the starting lineup, cornerstones have already been implemented for Normal Community as it battles for a Big 12 title and more.
