2026 Volleyball Preview: East Peoria gains experience in Barclay’s first season

EAST PEORIA — The rigors of Mid-Illini volleyball have challenged East Peoria over the past two decades. 2005 marked the last season the Raiders finished over .500, but they have made incremental progress in each of the last three seasons.
Following its winningest campaign since that 2005 season, the Raiders’ reins will shift into the hands of 2023 East Peoria graduate Maris Barclay, who takes over for five-year head coach Katelyn Romeo. A former standout with the Raiders and at ICC, Barclay looks to inject fresh energy into a team that brings back five starters.
Those starters include softball standouts Gracie Ahrens, Annika Rosecrans and Clutch Sports Media All-Area Honorable Mention Addison Duncheon along with Lia Billingsley and Lizzie Billingsley. The Raiders look to play faster and with more chemistry as they look to shake things up as a Mid-Illini dark horse.
